Apple Motion

Apple Motion file

The Apple Motion file (.motn) imports the video, camera, and anchors into Motion. Anchors substitute for the scan and must be created manually.

Export the .motn file

  1. In Export OptionsThird-party, enable Motion.
  2. By default, geometry has no anchors (shows 0 anchors). To add them, tap the "0 anchors" button.
  3. In the opened geometry view, tap on the geometry to place anchors. Tap an anchor again to remove it.
  4. Tap Back (top left).
  5. Finally, tap Export.
note

If you selected multiple shots, use Next/Previous to switch geometries. On the last one, tap Completed.

Use the .motn file in Apple Motion

  1. Open Apple Motion.
  2. Go to FileOpen...
  3. Select the .motn file you’ve exported.

After this, your Motion project includes:

  • Project: This includes all imported elements.
  • Anchors: Placed as substitutes for the scan.
  • Camera: Represents the camera of the shot.
  • Footage: The original video footage associated with the shot.
